Matt Harris

Matt Harris stands out as a great jazz pianist, as well as one of the top composers, arrangers, and jazz educators in the world. He holds degrees from University of Miami and Eastman School of Music. Matt has been the head of the jazz studies department at California State University-Northridge (Los Angeles) for nearly two decades.

In his early years , Matt toured and performed with the big bands of Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson. While doing so, he contributed several compositions for their libraries. His compositions and arrangements are published widely and used by school and professional bands worldwide. He has had numerous commissions to write for a great many bands throughout the world.

As a jazz pianist, Matt has performed with a great list of jazz legendary players such as Bob Sheppard, Lanny Morgan, Bobby Shew, Gregg Bissonette, Chuck Findley, John Pisano, Carl Saunders, Tim Ries, Bob McChesney, Dan Higgins, Jimmy Cobb, Joe Morello, Peter Erskine, and many more. He has recorded 6 CDs of his music for big band as well as his trio and quartet. He has been accompanist for such great vocalists as Kurt Elling, Kevin Mahogany, Diane Schurr, Karyn Allison, and many others.

In addition, Matt has written and / or performed on many commercial jingles such as Home Depot, Taco Bell, Jack In The Box, Marriott Hotels, Ford Motor Company, etc. He has also written several productions for the Metropole Orchestra from the Netherlands, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Kluvers Big Band (Denmark), the USAF Airmen Of Note.
