Hollywood Night Vol. 21
Introducing our twenty-first ever Hollywood Night! That’s a pretty impressive record especially if we think about last year’s tour with composer-conductors and big names on the silver screen such as Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. And it doesn’t look like the interest is waning, either – quite the contrary in fact.
This year the CNSO can look forward to trips to Scandinavia with Harry Potter (John Williams), Indiana Jones and Jaws (also Williams) in Britain (with premieres in Prague) plus a range of individual concerts featuring film music in the Czech Republic (Casino Royale, Home Alone, La La Land, Love Actually, Three Wishes for Cinderella, Vladimir Cosma, Henry Mancini and Ennio Morricone once again).
For our Municipal House concert on July 19, we’ve put together some new features along with a few favourites nobody ever tires of. Working alongside the conductor Carl Davis, who does the arrangements for a number of these, we’ll be serving up a diverse mix for you. He will be appearing on the stage with the orchestra, choir and soloists performing FANTASY – fairy tales filled with warm-hearted horror, PASSION plus film JAZZ – another traditional theme to go with our soundtrack concerts, jam-packed with powerful motifs and improvisations. Simply ABSOLUTELY HAPPY MUSIC. And last but not least, AT SEA taking you to Pearl Harbour, Castaway, last year’s prizewinner Dunkirk (Hans Zimmer), plus Pirates of the Caribbean of course. Not forgetting a few classics thrown in for good measure.
