Goran Bregović, a genius of Balkan and film music. In Czech Republic favorite composer will present his latest album Three Letters from Sarajevo this time.
Bregovic with his Wedding & Funeral Orchestra will for the first time perform with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra as part of the Prague Proms festival on 30.04.2018 in the large hall of Lucerna.
Composer, producer Goran Bregović was born on March 22, 1950 in Sarajevo to Serbian mother and Croatian father. His professional career began at the age of 16 after playing in strip-bars. He studied violin playing at the Conservatoire. He played guitar and bass in several bands, especially in the very popular Yugoslav formation Bjielo dugme. He chose the guitar as his faithful instrument to attract the attention of the female audience. His artwork is heavily influenced by the musical style of the Balkan Roma, known as world music, rock, punk and modern electronic sounds.
The world fame brought him to cooperation with director Emir Kusturica in the field of film music. The first film was HOUSE TO TEMPLE (1988), which was presented Cannes Film Festival. Another success both with the audience and the critics was ARIZONA DREAM (1993). Goran proceeded with his emigration because of civil war in his home country to Paris. Here he has created music for more than twenty films, such as QUEEN MARGOT (1994) or UNDERGROUND (1995). In Underground, he cut a small roll of a running trombonist. His work is considered a valuable experience, even though he has professionally broken up with director Kusturica. THE TRAIN OF LIFE (1998) gathered pleasant responses from the critics everywhere, and it was also the reason for him to earn his merits. In the award-winning drama MOVIE FOR WEDDINGS AND FUNERAL (2002), he was the author of a soundtrack and again enjoys the honour of acting in the role of Bogdan.
In 1995, Goran founded his own Gypsy band called Weddings and Funeral band, with whom he organized a live concert tour around the world, apart from that he is recording and publishing his own albums. He also composed stage music, including Hamlet or Dante's Comedy and is composing operas (Bregovic's Karmen with a Happy End). He organized unique performances across cultures, nations and religions, jury at music festivals, while he also supports charity projects. He regularly appears as a guest on television shows and albums of famous European stars, devotes himself to producing and is a renowned collector and expert in world music recordings.

He has a wife, Dzenan Sudzuk,wich he have met in 1977 when she was only 16 years old, now they have three daughters Una, Ema and Lula together. Daughter Zeljka was born in 1970 from a previous relationship. Recognized personality in the regional music industry is currently completely financially independent. "I do not have to worry about my career anymore, I only care about music." It's not about any music, wich is proven by the fact that he is a master in the combination of uncombinable, he can precisely mix the order into chaos. Chaos, the essence of history, dance, emotions, dreams, and the universe. He is like a boomerang, for everything beautiful that a satisfied listener can offer a payback will be returned several times. This draws the largest amount of motivation into his future exciting work.
He has collaborated with leading personalities from the music world, such as Iggy Pop, Cesaria Evora, Ofra Haza, Giorgos Dalaras, Layah, Gogol Bordello and Scott Walker.
