Hedwig Ritter Vocal Recital
Currently with the Vienna Volksoper, the Austrian soprano Hedwig Ritter has performed a number of major roles this season. She has lent her voice to characters such as Adele in Johann Strauss Jr.’s operetta Die Fledermaus, Eurydice in Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld, Blonde in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio and Clorinda in Gioacchino Antonio Rossini's Cinderella.
Prior to joining the Volksoper, she worked in Linz, Austria. She has portrayed the Queen of the Night in Mozart's opera The Magic Flute at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, plus taken part in the world premiere of Der Besucher at the Bielefeld Theater in Germany. As a child she studied trumpet at the Kunstuniversität Graz and, following secondary school, went on to pursue singing lessons at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien where she took classes from Uta Schwabe. She also studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Kai Wessel.
We were genuinely delighted on hearing she had accepted our invitation to perform at the Prague Proms. Her velvety timbre and flawless technique will be a veritable treat to our listeners’ ears. Hedwig Ritter's soprano recital will take place on 19th September 2023 in the Martinů Hall at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She will be accompanied by the Austrian pianist Tobias Neubauer, a former student of Julius Drake, Sven Birch and Stacey Bartsch. He is currently based at the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz.
The artists will present works from masters such as Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss, Francis Poulenc and others.
