Ondřej Izdný

On completing his studies at Pardubice Grammar school, he set about studying vocals at the local conservatoire. His first experience as a performer came while still a student of the Theatre of East Bohemia in Pardubice. In 1997 he went on to take up studies at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatoire where he attended Eduard Klezla’s class, graduating in 2003. In 2000 he performed at the J.K. Tyl Theatre in Plzen, performing the role of Narrator in the Czech dance musical Edith - vrabčák z předměstí, about the life of Edith Piaf, a show which continues to receive rave reviews to this day. He also performed in a production of Salieri? Mozart! at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec Theatre, in an Andersen ballet and in two musicals – The Full Monty! and Blood Brothers. This was followed by musical roles in a variety of productions and theatres (for instance Jirka in the Czech production Green Gold, Angel in Grease, Thuy in Miss Saigon, Čochtan in Finian’s Rainbow in ČeskýKrumlov and Aladdin in the eponymous production at the North Bohemian Theatre of Ballet and Opera in Ústí nad Labem and Baby John in West Side Story at Karlín Musical Theatre. He has played at both the Kalich (Czech musicals Touha, Krysař and Bílý dalmatin) and Broadway (Czech musical Klíč králů) theatres. He also sang the main role of Mark in the first ever Czech production of the musical Rent at Prague’s Divadlo Na Prádle, while also writing the vocal preparation for the production. He does regular dubbing work as both a singer and musical director, while also performing as a vocalist at a range of different concerts. At the Studio DVA theatre he performs in a Christmas Carol, the Little Match Girl, Evita, The Incredibly Sad Princess and Funny Girl.
